Dani Burd is a multifaceted movement artist, director, choreographer, producer, and educator from Los Angeles, CA who has had a colorful career in both the music and dance industries. Dani has focused on contemporary, post modern, experimental, meditative, and improvisational dance forms for the past 10+ years. She is the founder and director of the newfound Indigo Dance Company. Indigo is a project-based dance company based in Los Angeles, CA specializing in live performance, film, and outdoor installations. Dani believes dance is a dynamic practice that facilitates healing and empowerment for individuals, and the collective community. In her work she prioritizes authentic artistry, safe athleticism, community, collaboration, and accessibility.
Dani holds a BFA degree in Dance from Cal State University Long Beach where she studied with brilliant minds such as Rebecca Lemme, Rosana Tavares, Alex Shilling, and Keith Johnson. Her career in the music and dance industries have led her to produce work through the mediums of live performance, dance on film, live art exhibitions, music videos + visual albums, and short films. Some of her credits include Robot Koch, Tristian Eckerson, EDC Las Vegas, Diag0nal Studios, and Art in Residence (A.I.R.) desert exhibitions. Her teaching style prioritizes mindfulness, musicality, and release. She teaches pro level and all level dance classes and movement activation workshops rooted in release technique with a contemporary twist and movement meditation/somatic practices. Burd teaches at various studios and music/wellness festivals across the states. Her intimate relationship and devotion to her craft allows her to share it deeply with others, supporting them in finding their own authentic movement styles and flow state - which she refers to as “sailing”. As a dancer, she has also danced for Geometry Dance Company under the direction of Mackenzie Martin, Marjani Forte Saunders, Rebecca Lemme, Keith Johnson, and more.
